TRI-Point Philosophy to Getting in Shape Health and Fitness

According to data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) 2001 to 2004, about two-thirds of adults in the United States are overweight, and almost one-third are obese.

Eating right and being physically active aren't just a "diet" or a "program"—they are keys to a healthy lifestyle. With healthful habits, you may reduce your risk of many chronic diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, osteoporosis, and certain cancers, and increase your chances for a longer life.  By working 1 on 1 with our professionals, you will experience a total body conditioning service designed to challenge you and assist you in your fitness goals. Each session focuses on the key components to exercise: flexibility training, strength conditioning, and cardiovascular activity.

Exercise

Becoming a healthier you isn't just about proper diet and nutrition, but physical activity as well. This is the first target in our Tri-Point Philosophy.  Regular physical activity is important for your overall health and fitness. It helps you control your body weight by balancing the calories you take in as food with the calories you expend each day.  In addition to helping control weight, physical activity decreases the risk of coronary heart disease, diabetes, hypertension, and colon cancer.  According to the National Health Interview Survey, only 26 percent of U.S. adults engage in vigorous leisure-time physical activity three or more times per week (defined as periods of vigorous physical activity lasting 10 minutes or more). The survey also showed that about 59 percent of adults do no vigorous physical activity at all in their leisure time.

Diet/Nutrition

The second target of the Tri-Point Philosophy is maintaining a properly balanced diet.  There are a certain number of calories a person needs to consume each day in order to stay healthy.  This number varies, depending on your age, activity level, and your personal goals. It is very possible to consume your entire daily amount with just a few high-calorie items, but the likelihood of getting the full range of vitamins and nutrients that your body needs to be healthy is very unlikely. If you consume 100 more food calories a day than you burn, you'll gain about 1 pound in a month. That's about 10 pounds in a year. The bottom line is that to lose weight, it's important to reduce calories and increase physical activity.
